Apia’s analysis of the changing times suggests that religion is the key factor behind the preservation of traditions in the current community. Although modern culture heavily influences traditional African beliefs like the Asante traditional religion, the observable changes are functional and have positively impacted the lives of the residents. The colonization of Africa by European powers at the turn of the nineteenth century saw the beginning of real change by the introduction of Christianity and formal education.
