Deforestation is a problem and there are many non governmental agencies working to stop the practice and help people reforest their areas.

As I read your response, I thought that I would like to let you all know about some of the work that has been going on to stall deforestation globally. Creative programs and ideas along with many different kinds of stakeholders, are involved. Here is a brief article link from Time Magazine that explains a bit about how this can be done using carbon credits, and how it may help us until we come up with the technology we need to deal with our environmental and energy problems. It is worth the read so that you can see how partnerships have been created and how they are using Carbon Credits (I think many people are wondering what they really are and what they do). This may help bring some understanding to this complex topic. I am not sure if this program is still in place but it is worth mentioning.

Deforestation is defined as the cutting down of trees or the clearing of forest. This can be caused by activities like mining, road building, and establishment of hydroelectric dams, industrial logging and agri-business (Andersen, 2013). Some    non-governmental corporations like Kraft, Burger King and Kimberley-Clark have been playing a big role in curbing deforestation. These companies have put in place specific measures to prevent the disastrous act of deforestation (Pearce & Brown, 2012). The suppliers of wood products like paper fiber, timber and palm oil are urged to invent other sources of raw materials which have a minimum impact on the diminishing forests………………..
