Using Frederick Douglass’ and Harriet Jacobs’ slave narratives, write a 4 page paper explaining the ways in which gender shaped Douglass’ and Jacobs’ experiences as enslaved people in the southern United States. Your essay should contain a minimum of one example per narrative. Be sure that your essay has an introduction, a strong thesis, critical analysis (your opinion plus historical context), and a conclusion. Cite your sources using Chicago Style.
