The Sultanate of Oman is a rapidly developing country which has invested a lot in innovation and the use of alternative methods of harvesting and utilizing energy in many sectors. However, the country is rapidly running out of resources to support the current wave of development especially in the construction industry. An option that has been utilized widely is the use of blast furnace slag in the construction of pavements especially in Europe and America. In the Sultanate, this commodity has not been explored widely. However, there is an opportunity to use this air-cooled blast furnace slag which is often discarded as a waste product of steel and iron smelting in the making of concrete blocks for the construction business. This paper proposes an approach to test the viability of this idea in Oman. The methodology for the research process will include three main tests which will prepare the researcher for the implementation stage. The iron unsoundness test will allow the researcher to understand the amount of sulfur in the air-cooled blast furnace slag produced in the factories in the sultanate hence understand how the sulfur will affect the soundness of the concrete blocks. A slump test which is common in concrete studies will identify the correct mixture for creating a concrete block while the compression test will be the ultimate test for analyzing the plausibility of using air-cooled blast furnace slag in constructing concrete blocks. The compression test will be obtained from the incremental testing process of the iron unsoundness test and slump test and will be compared to the compression strength of conventional concrete………
