“Born the Hard Way”

Budweiser used this advertisement to illustrate the strengths of its brand regarding its history and the challenges that company had to overcome to become one of the leading manufacturers of alcoholic beverages in the United States. It is a television commercial that targeted adult Americans aged 18 years and above and tool to depict the company’s position on the immigration policy of the present administration. The company used the ethos of authority by featuring Anhueser-Busch’s story as the inspiration for consumers to perceive the brand as part of their cultural identity. Although the argument regarding the political statement in this advertisement was implicit, it was a cogent one because of the knowledge level and diverse nature of the company’s consumer base. Finally, Budweiser relied on the public emotions surrounding the debate on immigration to appeal to the audience and enhance their understanding and acceptance of its alcoholic beverage due to rich tradition and history………
