Approaches to International Political Economy
Globalization has brought the study of the international political economy to the forefront of the discussion of how the economic policies of a nation impact the rest of the world. Interestingly this debate has not been restricted to the shift in political gained from the economic activities of multinational enterprises that influence the factors of production. Rather, it is largely based on the interactions between politics and economics on the scale of which one drives the other. As much as the actors would love to have it tilt to their side, the fundamental principles of economic activities had prevented such imbalance. In the state versus markets battle, it is difficult for the political class to have their wish of ruling the global economy, especially through their ability to determine the norms, organization, rules, a law of markets, corporations, and local.
