As a prewriting strategy, create a communication context analysis for a 2- to 4-page memo for all employees at your workplace

Part One: Due 8.11.22 –  submit this part once u complete its urgent

You will continue to work with your the volunteering project you have imagined and are thinking through.

To ensure the project’s success, you know that you will need the help of one or more people from outside your company. These people are sometimes called external stakeholders or key decision makers. For example, you might need to ask a local pastor for use of their fellowship hall space; you might need to ask your local school board official to vote a certain way in an upcoming election; or you might need to request funding or sponsorship from a local business owner.

You are not limited to the external stakeholders suggested above. Let your imagination guide you. What external partners would be helpful? What services or support could they provide? How can you convince them to contribute those services or support?

As you prepare for this Discussion, remember that your letter is strategic. Its goal should be to inform and persuade. As you construct your persuasive letter, remember to use the logospathosethos, and kairos appeals discussed in Week 2.

  • Logos: Persuasion using logic, data, or statistics.
  • Ethos: Persuasion based on credibility, often created through citing credible evidence or personal/professional expertise. For example, a board-certified dentist commenting on the impacts of gum disease.
  • Pathos: Persuasion through invoking empathy toward the topic or author, often referred to as tugging at one’s heart strings.
  • Kairos: An appeal to persuade an audience through a sense of urgency or timing. A “now or never” or “get it before it’s gone” approach.

By Day 3

Post 250–300 words responding to the following.

  • Draft a letter to a potential external partner. Describe your volunteering project in detail, highlight its merits and value to the community, and request the specific help you need to ensure you get your volunteering project off the ground.

Part Two: Due 8.13.22

Congratulations! Based on the correspondence and procedural documents you provided, your supervisor wants to implement your employee volunteering program across your organization. They has asked that you write an official memo, shared with all employees, detailing the specifics of the volunteering opportunity, its benefits to the organization, steps for how employees participate, and a procedure for how the initiative’s success can be evaluated.

By Day 7

Part I: As a prewriting strategy, create a communication context analysis for a 2- to 4-page memo for all employees at your workplace using the Communication Context Worksheet (attached)

Part II: Using the employee volunteer plan you’ve developed in Weeks 2–4, write a 2- to 4-page (600–900 words) memo for all employees at your workplace. This memo should provide rationale for the Alert, Orient, Act approach that Jarvis speaks about as it relates to your project.

The purpose of this memo is to:

  • introduce the new transformative volunteering opportunity,
  • detail its benefits to the organization, and
  • to encourage staff participation.

Include:

  • a revised version of the rationale you used to convince your boss in your Week 3 Assignment to appeal to all employees
  • the email and the instructions to all employees you drafted in Week 4, and
  • the evaluation guidelines from your Week 4 Discussion.

Feel free to make up dates and deadlines as your memo requires.

Requirements: as instructed
