  2. Of the bad listening practices listed, which do you use the most? Why do you think you use this one more than the others? What can you do to help prevent or lessen this barrier? Give a specific example from experience to support your points.
  3. What is listening competence (in your own words)? Why is it important to demonstrate listening competence including listening and response preparation in academic, professional, civic, and personal contexts? Give an example of how to demonstrate listening competence in each context. Do not use the same example or type of example for each context.
