Against the background of the job characteristics model framework, this paper analyzes my previous job experience as a corporate executive driver. The job characteristics model is a theory of work design advanced by Richard Hackman and Greg Oldham. The theory’s central premise is that the nature or features of a task or job exert key influences on the motivation of the employee. Accordingly, dreary and monotonous tasks often suppress an employee’s motivation whereas exciting and challenging tasks often fuel employee motivation.
