Carter’s Opinions of MLK’s Legacies
You are a reporter for a Washington, D.C., paper. It’s Aug. 28, 2013. Your editor sends you to the Mall to cover Jimmy Carter’s speech at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream Speech.” That’s all of the information she gives you. Before you go, you need to research background info on what this event is and who’s involved. At the speech, you take notes on Carter’s words as well as audience response and general observations about the weather, the crowd, etc. Back at your office, you write a 200-250-word news story on the speech for tomorrow’s paper, in AP style with headline, byline & end mark.
