To understand the development of gender among children, the social learning theory attributes the development of a child to the punishment or disapproval and praise for the child to engage in some cultural practices. For instance, if a boy’s aggressive nature is praised while that of girls is disapproved, the former will emerge dominant over the latter. According to the psychodynamic theory, the gender development in children is highly tied to parenting; particularly to the mother. The theory argues that gender stereotypes emanate from the girls’ likeness and connectedness to their mother while the boys view themselves as biologically differentiated from their mothers………..
