1. Select a communicable disease (medical diagnosis).
2. Develop a nursing diagnosis (must be 2 or 3 parts ad indicated by type of nursing
diagnosis- for more information refer to learning activity resources).
3. Identify and describe any barriers to learning.  Consider these when creating your
teaching plan. For example, developmental age, cognitive impairment, or visual
impairment. Remember to consider the child and the family.
4. Create a teaching plan using the template provided.
 Identify at least 1 learning objective (must be SMART)
 3-5 teaching strategies and provide a rationale for each
 1-2 evaluation strategies
