Criminal Profile Report

  1. Report Guidelines:
The assignment is to compose a 3-5 page, typed Criminal Profile report based on case information provided by the professor. Based on the case evidence, you will attempt to identify any:(a) demographic information about the possible suspect or suspects, including race, age, gender, education, etc; (b) his or her possible background history or information; (c) how the suspect chooses victims; (d) likelihood of subsequent crimes; (e) possible locations for the police to search for the suspect; (f) mental state of the suspect. You may also provide a list of questions you would ask the investigators that were not addressed in the case history. The goal of this report is to provide law enforcement with all pertinent information to help identify and capture this perpetrator and protect possible future victims. You are required to use the provided case information to compose your report. You may also use outside information to give general clues about the suspect (i.e. your text), but do not make up information that is not in the case history. If you use sources other than your text for this report, you need to cite them in basic APA format and provide a list of resources at the end of the report.
  1. Format
This is not a typical research paper, however, you need to write it in a professional manner. That means it will need to be organized, coherent, grammatically correct, and contain all the information noted in the guidelines. You will write this in narrative style (like you are telling a story); it should not be written as an outline or list. Use a standard typed format, with 1″ or margins using MS Word (or Rich Text).

Any citations will follow APA citation guidelines (and a list of References in APA style)

The completed report should be submitted to the appropriate Drop Box on the iLearn course page

Answer preview

Demographic information

The first evidence the police were able to get from the first two murder scenes was the boot stamped on Emily Post’s body. The link between the first two murders was the signature size seven footprint. The description given by a woman survivor of the ripper, Maryann Monroe, gave him as a tall man with long hair. From the circumstances of the attack, the Monroe was not able to get a good look of the attacker but it was a significant piece of evidence.

This sighting established that he was a man and possibly a white man owing to the long hair. His age and education level can only be a matter of conjecture, as the only suggestion to this is the intelligent thinking we find in his choice of attacks, and leaving clues for police to work on. For example, in the murder of Helen Mellon, he returned to the murder scene to give more clues of the date of her death by leaving a newspaper under her arm……………………..
