Many people are actually executing projects – even small ones, like that surprise birthday party for a cousin, or a trip to Uruguay, or the sale of a house, or a political campaign – without knowing they are actually managing a project.

In this class you will find that often you were “doing Project Management” and even applying specific tools without knowing their names. In the past holiday, I traveled to California with my friends for 11 days,it was a wonderful experience and in this travel,I acted as a PM.

Project Initiation:

I’ve been planning this trip since before Christmas,We are a team of four,so I need to take into account everyone’s ideas and preferences,from the travel schedule to accommodation arrangement,and many other aspects.

Project planning:

I divided the whole pre-trip plan into two main parts.

first of all, We need to decide on the itinerary, including the detailed tour route, which cities and attractions to visit,it is one of the most important parts of the plan,our objective is to make our 12-day schedule tight and appropriate without getting too tired.so I did a lot of study,consider the distance between different cities, the traffic.finally we decided to travel from San Diego，then Los Angeles, and finally Las Vegas，each city stays for four days.and then I considerd detailed plan for each day, Arrange the sequence of visits, taking into account the time required for each attraction and not going backwards,it was a complicated and huge job.

Secondly,I need to book everyone’s hotel and rent car for each day’s trip in advance, California is not like Boston, we have to have a car to get around.Choosing an appropriate and cost effective car is important,taking into account our too much luggage,the cars I rent during the whole trip are all 7-seater business car.Also,I need to book some tickets in advance,some tickets need to be booked several days before,such as the tickets for the magic show in vegas and tickets for the helicopter ride.Thinking ahead can make everything go smoothly.

The whole trip went well and most of the circumstances were taken into account.

I keep an eye on all kinds of unexpected situations and made adjustments at any time.

Closing project

This trip is a success and a wonderful experience for all of us, my friends and me enjoyed this trip quite well.
