The king does not seem very surprised by the information portrayed by the letter.  King Henry does not seem satisfied with the information conveyed by the long speech; he still depicts his doubt toward the letter. Consequently, he does not hurry to respond or react to these charges, and instead, he discharges it as no more than a ploy for rebelling against the king.
