FIRST: This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. This is especially true for the purpose statement. Even though the assignment may say APA format is not required, the rubric states clearly that a purpose statement is required. Even if you add a few sentences at the beginning. Otherwise you will not receive any points for that line of the rubric.
SECOND: Remember to support your responses with the topic study materials. This means you need to have references in your paper. Again check the rubric where it states clearly that responses need to be supported by topic study material so you will need to include references and their proper citations.
THIRD: While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
Please read the rubric because you are expected to have a proper introduction that includes a thesis and purpose statement.
FOURTH: The fundamental question is: does the fetus/baby have moral status? If so then the choice for abortion would have to be rejected, if not then abortion might be a choice for the couple. So what you are doing when you identify each person’s moral theory is determining where they
stand on the question of the moral status of the fetus/baby. You need to define the theory you think relates to the person (referencing the theory) and then you need to explain the theory, and then you need to explain the action they would take as they apply the theory.
I am including the points from the assignment but don’t worry about the word count because I don’t think you can do a good job in responding to the questions if you keep to that requirement. So use the space to do the best you can do (and here check the rubric as to the expectations)

- What is the Christian view of the nature of human persons, and which theory of moral status is it compatible with? How is this related to the intrinsic human value and dignity?
- Which theory or theories are being used by Jessica, Marco, Maria, and Dr. Wilson to determine the moral status of the fetus? What from the case study specifically leads you to believe that they hold the theory you selected?
- How does the theory determine or influence each of their recommendations for action?
- What theory do you agree with? Why? How would that theory determine or influence the recommendation for action?
I would encourage you to do some research on the Moral Status of the Fetus if you do not find enough information in the reading material for the week.
