The Great Gatsby the novel and the film The Artist are two pieces of work that are representative of different relationships in the society and how they affect the identity of a person. The evident theme that dominates both resources is one of the ‘class and the society.’ When speaking of this theme, the American Dream and how people chase it comes to focus. In both the film and the book, characters who attempt to chase the dream but are either unrealistic or inconsiderate direct the events of the plot.
