What is a resource?

A resource is a profitable and fruitful factor that is very useful to the society. These include natural resources and human made resources. Natural resources include geologic and energy resources, air and water resources, and forests. A natural resource therefore is generated through natural mechanisms and it is used and valued by people (Hackett, 2011).
