The question that need asking is as to the sole purpose of education. The growing “phenomenon” as to the importance placed in education as the stepping stone to an improved life has diverted the real purpose of education. It has created a mechanization that has allowed education to become a business that is no longer aimed at empowering a community, but rather in creating division. Globalization, otherwise referred to as Americanization, portrays a sad reality to the issue of education that has lost the meaningful intention of creating a people with mentality aimed at creating change. Instead, it has “manufactured” institutions that are driven by a capitalistic agenda to remain relevant and viable, a context that demands a certain level of standards. The context of globalization or post world II phenomenon has been assumed that it is a purpose-driven initiative that will allow the world to achieve a level ground that propels growth, industrialization, and improved human well-being through education.
