Public healthcare professionals need to adapt to the numerous changes in their field by acquiring the necessary skills and being competent enough to engage in their practice at all levels as both administrators and educators.
Apart from the core areas of study offered currently, professionals will need to achieve competency in new fields including informatics, cultural competence, policy and law, genomics, and global health to improve their preparedness to handle and address some of the health issues and challenges facing individuals and the entire society (Gebbie, 2003).
These areas remain significant for both the public health educators in the diverse programs within the school of public health and the administrators within the healthcare setting to enhance care and services which improves the health of society.
