On-boarding an employee is a fairly new term in the world of talent management although it has been around for some time now. On-boarding is another term for new employee orientation and mainstreaming process which has more to do with the retention of talent as opposed to getting new employees settled in their new workplaces. This concept is best defined as the systematic and comprehensive approach in orientating new employees by helping get them “on board” (Stinson, 2012).
