Students are required to write a paper, 6-8 pages in length, on a topic of their choice related to Cross-Cultural Psychology. All papers must be typewritten in APA style, double-spaced, referenced and with a bibliography of at least three academic sources.

My topic: I would like to have my research paper on ethnocentrism and its overall effects throughout the world. Ethnocentrism causes division between cultures and I want to understand why we do it.

Introduction

Ethnocentrism is a word that was created by a Yale professor called William Graham Summer. According to the professor, ethnocentrism refers to the belief that things in the group of a person are the center of everything else (Guo & Zhou, 2017). Ethnocentricity involves people believing that the things in their culture should be used to rate and scale other people. Therefore, people believe that their cultures are superior to other people. For example, while Americans think that their culture is progressive. People from the eastern countries think that the American culture is immoral and theirs is the right way of life. While the people of Pakistan believe that they are brave as well as faithful and hardworking unlike the rest of the world, Arabs think that they are more hospitable than other people and the hospitality of other people can only be ranked according to the levels of hospitality of the Arabs (Guo & Zhou, 2017). The nature of the different groups of people seeing their cultures as being the most important and superior is ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism exists in various forms and therefore has both advantages and disadvantages………
