Army Tan and Alice Walker short stories Everyday Use and Two kinds have a similar theme that of realization. They use their characters to define the how characters fail to understand each other until a certain time where they realize themselves and had a change of the way they perceive things. In Every Use by Walker mother has a problem with her two daughters where she takes Maggie to be a lame animal. In Two Kinds Jing Mei struggle with her mother when she tries to turn her into something she did not like making her to sabotage herself. Conflicts in these two narrations are about not understanding each other facing much resistance from each other………….
