The different institutions in societies were established as platforms for the humans that reside in them to create experiences that foster their development. The knowledge that increases my understanding of the relationship between man and these social structures is the driving force behind my intellectual pursuit. A sociology degree from the University of Pennsylvania would afford me the opportunity to not only explore these intellectual and developmental goals but identify and explain human behavioral patterns in the context of social life through the utilization of concepts such as “class, race and gender inequality.” Furthermore, I am fully aware that academic interests are the important foundations for any intellectual construct. Therefore, the exploration and accomplishment of such structures are dependent on the curriculum of an institution’s program. The focus of the major in sociology program of this prestigious university on topics such as “global and international studies, law and society, and sociology of culture”.
