The Fairness of the Court System

Identify one or two impediments that may prevent an average citizen from receiving a fair trial in the U.S. Then, determine at least one policy that could prevent unfair trials in the U.S. court system.

The courts’ ability to give a fair trial defines the credibility of a Justice system. According to Fair Trials (2017) should the judicial system lose its capacity to accord a fair trial then the rule of law loses its power and effectiveness. The presumption of innocence, the respect for the right of freedom, the fair chance of defense, an open justice and the rule of law make the fundamental principles of a fair hearing. If one of this principles is not effectively assumed during a trial, then the verdict can be challenged through an appeal.
