Family Systems Model
Unit 2 will focus on family relationships, systems, and functions, and how these variables impact student success. The interrelated elements of the Family Systems Model will be examined in terms of how such a model can inform teacher strategies for establishing collaborative relationships with parents and families. Finally, the differing effects of family involvement versus family engagement will be explored. Make every effort to complete the readings beforehand so that you may be able discuss the following:
1. Describe the four interrelated elements of the Family Systems Model.
2. Describe the three concepts of family interaction and functioning levels.
3. Explain the family life cycle.
