global health perspectives

In both professional and social settings, it is possible that you will be called upon to define population health to those who are unfamiliar. Part of building confidence in your ability to define population health is to have a solid understanding of closely related health perspectives.

For this Discussion, you will compare community, public, population, and global health perspectives through the development of a comparison matrix and narrative summary.

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s media Resources and familiarize yourself with the characteristics of community, public, population, and global health.
  • Download the Health Comparison Matrix Template from this week’s Resources.
  • Review the assigned Nash et al. (2016) chapters to review population health definitions and related points and distinctions.
  • Consider the breadth and complexity of health, manifested through multiple sectors, as it relates to meeting the health needs of populations.

BY DAY 3

Complete the Health Comparison Matrix by identifying commonalities and differences among each of the types of health care approaches. Then, write a narrative summary explaining the similarities and differences among the healthcare approaches, and identify at least one insight you discovered concerning the different types of health care approaches. Be specific and provide examples.
