Advantages of the North and the South during the American Civil War
During the American Civil War, the two sides that were fighting against each other had several advantages which favored them during the war.
Northern advantages
The first advantage that the North had during the war is the high number of free men who could be used to fight the war. Studies reveal that the North had over 4 times the number of available men than the South. This played an important role as it enabled them to outnumber the south in the battlefield.
