HIV & AIDS STORYBOAD

HIV & AIDS STORYBOAD

This week, you explored how the media might use health communication tools such as billboards, public service announcements, and video clips to communicate health information. These communication tools can be very effective if they are planned and developed and are based on health behavior theory. Using storyboarding can help polish your ideas and develop the flow of your health message.

For this Assignment, review the Storyboarding article and Storyboarding Template provided in this week’s resources. Reflect on your colleagues’ feedback on your storyboarding idea from the Discussion and consider how you might develop a storyboard for your health communication campaign.

The selected topic for the health communication campaign is HIV/AIDS. The aim is to educate the people on some of the strategies that they can develop so as to reduce the prevalence of the ailment in the society. HIV/AIDS has many effects and can reduce the quality of life that people lead. As a result, it is imperative when such information is disseminated to the people so that they can avoid infection. There are many ideas that can be included in the storyboard for the health communication campaign. A great idea that could be visualized on the campaign is appropriate condom use. The use of condoms has been proven to be one of the best strategies that people can adopt to ensure that they are not infected by HIV/AIDS. However, many people still continue to use condoms inappropriately and this exposes them to huge risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and ailments.

Improper condom use is a significant negative health behavior that can expose the people to HIV. The aim of storyboarding the issue through a graphic organizer is to ensure that members of the public understand how use condoms appropriately (Bor, & Elford, 2017). Such knowledge would play a great role in ensuring that the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the community reduces in the foreseeable future. The storyboard will be very effective at disseminating information about condom use in the health communication campaign. This is mainly because images and illustrations will be used. These illustrations tend to be highly effective compared to other forms of communication when disseminating information about health choices in the society. Such an interactive communication would thereby increase the possibility of success of the communication campaign.
