In this discussion, you find yourself in a workplace situation where you are a team leader.  You are asked to help your team understand and manage their emotions at work. You mention your challenges to manage emotions among your team and your boss tells you to read an article about it.

There are a multitude of different techniques I personally use to manage my emotions at work. As for this discussion, three things I would do to help my team manage their emotions and work together to meet the deadline is…  Calm down and get our thoughts together as a team to brainstorm different ideas and opinions. Do a personal reality check on your self awareness and determine weather or not Self-awareness is a mindful consciousness of your strengths, weaknesses, actions and presence. Self-awareness requires having a clear perception of your mental and emotional states (Reference: self and social awareness – Search (bring.com). After determining theses two factors I would then ask everyone to discuss what they are feeling and try to focus on coming up with a solution to counter act the feelings, in order to complete the tasks. Almost daily, when faced with difficulty at work I step away to the bathroom just to take a deep breathe. Some people bring problems to work, on the other hand, some people know how to manage their emotions. Perhaps having a personal meeting with each individual to see if they’re going through something at home, can also help. Communication is key to any and everything and being able to express your concerns, thoughts, and vision can aid in a successful completion of the deadline.
