If you were one of these housekeepers, would you want to be open about your support? Why or why not? What might be some of the benefits or risks involved?

Unionization of Employees

Your written response should be 4 double-spaced pages (1” margins, size 12 Times New Roman font). As with all written assignments, you will be graded on the depth of your analysis as well as your professionalism (grammar, spelling, etc.). You do not need to use citations or have a reference page, as this assignment does not require additional research.

Read the article ‘Inside a Union Drive at the Trump Hotel’ (https://www.thestar.com/business/2015/05/01/inside-a-union-drive-at-the-trump-hotel.html) published in The Star in 2015.

Next, address the following questions in your written response: Some organizing campaigns attempt to organize in secret – that is, without management knowing that the workers are in the process of forming a union. The goal under this strategy is for management to find out as late as possible (ideally, when the union files a petition with the labour board to represent the workers) so that they cannot be simultaneously running an anti-union campaign. As described in this article, the workers who supported the union at Trump Hotel were vocal about it and openly stated whether they supported the union organizing drive. If you were one of these housekeepers, would you want to be open about your support? Why or why not? What might be some of the benefits or risks involved?
