Impact of Nursing

The Affordable Care Act is a federal statute that was created in 2010 to bring about many reforms on the healthcare system of the United States. It was signed into law by Barack Obama, and this explains why it is often referred to in the media as ObamaCare (Roger, 2016). Before it was enacted, the cost of healthcare was increasing at an alarming rate. The increased cost of healthcare, coupled with the increased cost of healthcare insurance meant that there were many people across the country who could no longer afford insurance for their medical needs. The act has been cited to be one of the most significant changes in the healthcare system since the 1960s.
