In Defense of Food is a book that was authored by Michael Pollen in an attempt to talk about how the people of America ended up eating unhealthily leading to the widespread lifestyle diseases. The author continues on his previous work that was titled The Omnivore’s Dilemma in which he spoke about how the growth of corn and related technologies had let to the availability of a variety of foods and advised people that the best alternatives of food were the one that was readily available to them in their locality. In In Defense of Food, the author offers a brief history of changes that have happened in the food and nutrition fields that have led to people basing their healthy eating on nutrients rather than foods. The book may be critical in changing the mentalities of Americans concerning the foods they consume and therefore encourage healthy eating for healthy living………
