SECURITY INCIDENT PAPER
Students will write a brief (5-6 pages) paper describing at least three recent (last 6 months) network security incidents. The paper will provide an analysis of the incident, including the vulnerabilities exploited, the impact of the incident, and the nature of the threat. IN APA FORMAT
Examples of security incidents include:
- Computer system breach
- Denial of service attack
- Malware infection
- Loss or theft of equipment.
- Compromised user accounts
- Interference with the intended use of IT resources
- Unauthorized access to, or use of, systems, software, or data
or any other incidents that lead to a data breach, putting sensitive data at risk to the public, or interfere operation and violate of companies’ policy, laws or regulations.
Based on their analysis, the students will provide recommendations and comments on lessons learned as a result of the incident. The students will also include a discussion of the appropriateness of the security levels of the network prior to the incident.
