Professor and Classmates,

I am currently not enrolled in any nursing organizations. As of recent, a few sorority groups have reached out via email, however at this time I haven’t considered any forms of organizations. I may consider joining the National Association of Nurse Practitioners Faculties and Nurse Without Borders. I have long been interested in returning to school for my graduate degree, as well as volunteering my time. An option I’ve considered by in the past is an organization like Nurse/Doctors Without Borders.

I am currently working in a dialysis center and there is a certification available for RNs. However I cannot sign up for the certification exam until I have reached two years of experience. It is known as the CAP program (Clinical Advancement Program). With this, comes with more responsibility, with an increase in salary. Through this program, nurses are allowed the opportunity to increase their knowledge in the management aspect of dialysis nursing.

In the near future, I hope to return to school for my FNP-MSN degree. I have given this much consideration. Initially, I had interest in receiving my masters degree in nursing education. I always wanted to become a nurse educator later on in the future of my career. However, as of recent, I’ve contemplated going back for my FNP. This is my last semester for my BSN, so planning for my FNP future is in the process. In our reading, it discusses some competencies of leadership as mentoring colleagues and contributing my local community. With an FNP program in my future, I believe I can add to these competencies as an advanced practice nurse (ANA, 2015).

Thank you,

Kelly
