Lagaan (2001) is an Indian film that was produced by Mansoor Khan and Aamir Khan. The film is set at a time when India was still not independent. The time was the 19th century and India was still under the British. At the time, people of a village in India were overtaxed by the British representative that was in charge of their village. The village finds itself in a risky situation when the hero, Bhuvan takes on a challenge given by the British representative to beat his team to cancel the taxes of the village for three years or increase the taxes three fold if they fail. During the colonial time when the film is set, Indians were not good at cricket and considered it to be a foreign game. Therefore, the British representative was sure they would lose when Bhuvan mocked the game. Taxes were imposed on the people by leaders that were posted by the British government. However, what the taxes were increased at the time of the film, there had been a long drought, and therefore people could not afford it……..
