Working in a law office can be more than just working on legal documents and files, as Brian is discovering. The law firm he joined two months ago as a paralegal enlists staff members to help in marketing the business. For example, last year the office initiated what they called a “marketing campaign” by sending holiday cards to everyone listed in the office’s database as a client, colleague, or contact. The campaign was not successful in increasing the firm’s business. As the office’s database application specialist, it is Brian’s turn this year to come up with a way to expand and use the firm’s database information to help the attorneys market their services.
- Brainstorm ideas for Brian to use: What data would you compile in a database to help with a law office’s marketing efforts?
- Why would database software help these efforts?
- How would you populate the database?
