John C. Lincoln founded the Company in the year 1895, and it had been the world largest manufacturer of arc welding products (Exhibit 1), and by 1974 it had supplied more than 40% arch welding equipment’s that were sold in the USA. In addition to the welding products, the company also manufactured three-phase alternating current electrical, industrial motors. The company believed in making high quality products and selling them at a relatively low price than their competitors (exhibit 3). The strategy of the company was based on a unique incentive system where employees were rewarded with their productivity, ideas for reducing costs, high quality and individual contributions to the company.
