Look over the studies,  particularly Bowlby, Ainsworth, and Harlow.

Given the importance of attachment, what could our society  do to improve the chances for secure attachment? Should we invest in better day  care centers? Should both parents be allowed lengthy maternity and paternity  leaves? What happens to children who are raised for several months or years in  foster homes or orphanages?
