Rhetorical strategies are deliberate efforts that speakers use to persuade their audience. Martin Luther King (MLK) is one of the greatest orators in the American history, and he is so remembered for his speeches and the influence he had on his followers. The historical context of the leader is that he was one of the greatest activists of the 20th century and he influenced African American activists to rise and stand for the rights of African Americans when the country had numerous discriminative policies against black and African American people. As a leader, he participated in several peaceful marches including Selma (1965), Bloody Sunday (1965), Chicago (1966), Vietnam War Opposition (1967), and Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955-56). The importance of the marches to his rhetoric is because he managed to persuade many people to join him and other activists in the efforts to bring justice to the minorities using his speeches.
