You have been assigned the task of purchasing media for your client’s advertising campaign. In a two to four-page paper, discuss the steps you would use in determining how you would select a media venue. Describe each of the five W’s for your media planning. Describe the three most important rules of media buying and why they apply to your client.

The paper

  • Must be 3 double-spaced pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must use at least two scholarly sources in addition to the course text.

Media planning and buying is the process of strategizing negotiating and purchasing inventory for a client. There are various elements that must be taking into consideration when planning which media to purchase and they include the target audience, time, the product itself, competitors and budget. It is very important for a company to be able to understand its target demographic before beginning a media plan. The audience are then narrowed by age, sex or even race depending on the product that is being put into the market. The target population must be attracted to the media of choice so as to ensure that the message is passed to as many as possible..
