The miniskirts were a fashion of the 1960’s that first appeared in the Vogue magazine. It was a new fashion model that brushed just above the knee. Unlike the popular skirts of the time that covered the whole body, the miniskirts had a new way to expose the legs and it offered the girls more freedom to move about and dance. Mary Quant was the first London designer to make the miniskirts. She is today credited as the mother of the mini skirt. Her inspiration was to create a cloth that was sleek and yet allowed women to move freely. She was inspired by the ballerinas she watched as a child and embraced that sleek style in her store at Chelsea……………
