#1 response-I chose Pioneers In Our Field: Friedrich Froebel – Founder of the First Kindergarten. It interested me most because of the passion that Friedrich had because he had no mother figure in life to really direct him. So he found something that helped him with that void that he didn’t have by creating a school and starting education for younger children.

“Prior to Froebel’s kindergarten, children under the age of 7 did not attend school.” “It was believed that young children did not have the ability to focus or to develop cognitive and emotional skills before this age.” “However, Froebel expressed his own beliefs about the importance of early education in the following way: “. . . because learning begins when consciousness erupts, education must also.”

He made a broad statement that children should start education at a earlier stage than 7 years old. I have a 4 year old now and she is more than ready to start kindergarten, I can’t imagine having to wait until she was 7. By then she would be in almost in 2nd grade.

Common Core State Standards is a great way to prepare every student who is preparing to go to college. These specific guidelines established will help students in Math and English and make sure students have great success after high school. These Common Core Standards help teachers keep track of every child academically by measuring their progress throughout the year. There are many pros and cons to Common Core. This new way of learning as been very difficult to many students, including my own. It forces students to learn at a faster pace, causing stress to some. As a parent, I want to teach my kids the basic way to add and subtract. With Common Core math, it teaches them five different ways how to get the same answer, and I think it just confuses them. The Common Core State Standard can also be a good thing, allowing other countries to their standards with the U.S. It is a great way to help prepare students for college and students have been known to develop a higher level of thinking. As a teacher, I would want my students to succeed and develop skills that will stay with them throughout their adult lives.

No Child Left Behind was signed into law on January 8, 2002. This law states that every child can learn no matter what ethnicity or money needs. This act allows schools to be individualized based on the needs of the children. It is a great piece of federal legislation that provides better funding for our schools. I really appreciate this act as a person who wants to become a teacher. The act makes sure that high-quality teachers are in every classroom and also provides education to children from low-income families, students with a disability, and those who do not speak English (Estes & Krogh, 2012).

The impact of the work of Friedrich Froebel regarding the development of the kindergarten model of education would be evident in the delivery of classroom instruction. As you noted in your post, Froebel’s assertion that the education must begin at the same time as learning is necessary to identify how the level of exposure at this stage has helped the child to stimulate and flourish his or her cognitive abilities during the delivery of information. According to Lawrence (2011), an additional impact of Frobel’s work that would have…………….
