Nonprobability Sampling

Nonprobability Sampling

Question (CXU9a) (Separate Paper)

Write your response to the question, “To what extent is mixed methods research simply taking a quantitative design and a qualitative design and putting them together?” Next, explain the types of research questions best served by mixed methods research. Then, explain one strength and one limitation of mixed methods research. Finally, provide a rationale for or against the utility of mixed methods research in your discipline.

Question (CXU10a) (Separate Paper)

Write a restatement of your assigned position on sampling strategies. Defend your position with examples and support from the scholarly literature. Next, select a data collection method and briefly explain its strengths and limitations. Then, identify a potential ethical issue with this method and describe a strategy to address it. Last, explain the relationship between measurement reliability and measurement validity using an example from your discipline.
Question (CXU10b) (Separate Paper)

Locate six articles on a research topic of your interest—two quantitative research articles, two qualitative research articles, and two mixed methods research articles—published in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Prepare an annotated bibliography that includes the following:
    • A one-paragraph introduction that provides context for why you selected the research articles you did.
    • A reference list entry in APA Style for each of the six articles that follows proper formatting. Follow each reference list entry with a three-paragraph annotation that includes:
      • A summary
      • An analysis
      • An application as illustrated in this example
    • A one-paragraph conclusion that presents a synthesis of the six articles.
  • Format your annotated bibliography in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced. A separate References list page is not needed for this assignment.

Question (CXU11a) (Separate Paper)
Write an explanation of the criteria you could use to evaluate alignment between data collection methods and other research components, such as the problem, purpose, research questions, and design. Then, reflecting on the course content, discuss the extent to which your newly acquired research knowledge and skills can support your role as an agent of positive social change. Be specific and provide an example(s)

Answer preview………….

Studying an entire population is often impractical and mostly unachievable in research. My assigned position is: Nonprobability (or purposive) sampling represents the best strategy for selecting research participants. Non-probability sampling involves a sampling technique that allows participants to be selected on the basis of their accessibility or purpose of the study. By so doing, non-probability sampling is cost-effective and easy to perform. Further, non-probability sampling is superior because it allows a researcher to select participants who best fit a study without including participants who may skew the results. Other than skewing, selecting participants who best fit a study allows the study to find more relevant results. For instance, in non-probability sampling when studying the effects of a particular drug to the nervous system, it is better to select the most experienced physicians who have interacted with that drug for long. On the contrary, selecting physicians randomly without considering their relative interaction with the drug may produce results that do not accurately answer the research question………..
