Synthesis Essay Topic and Outline for CBE

Topic This outline will be used to create an essay of six paragraphs in length. This essay will synthesize ideas from the tragic theories of Hegel and Nietzsche and the film The House of Sand and Fog.

Thesis: Your thesis will state the relationship between the theories of tragedy of Hegel and Nietzsche and The House of Sand and Fog. [see below].

Sections: The body of the essay will have two sections with two paragraphs in each section. Each of the two sections will have a section sentence that introduces the theory. The section sentences directly connect to the thesis. Each paragraph in that section with have topic sentences that directly connects to the section sentence

You will need to quote the movie two times with signal phrases and proper citations plus two of the readings in our Dialogue reader.

You need to know the names of the major characters in the film and correctly spelled.

Outline form

Thesis: Please state the topics and what your essay will prove about them. Remember the guidelines in my lecture on writing a thesis. As with the Aristotle and Match Point essay, what is the relationship between Hegel’s and Nietzsche’s theories and the film The House of Sand and Fog

1. Section Sentence. Answer this: Does Hegel’s theory of the tragedy work with the film and why? What must there be in the film for the theory to work? [Answer in one sentence].

You must get the lettering and numbering correct
