Choosing an effective leadership approach is very important in the achievement of the goals of the organization or team. Therefore, in the Chilean Mine Rescue operation in San Jose, the application of good leadership is what led to the success. The case study shows that the leader applied both the path-goal theory and situational leadership. While the path-goal theory was important in maintaining the motivation of the followers in the process, the situational leadership enabled the leaders to shift their strategy of leadership based on the changing situations during the operation.
