please respond to the following discussion post as a peer making a comment. Part of being an effective leader is to recognize when it’s time to step up or fall back. This is a trait that is learned through leadership experiences. I think it’s important for leaders to have a deep awareness that they are not going to be an expert on everything and allow others to safely contribute their ideas. Conscious leadership is defined as being deeply self-aware and aware of others without operating with the ego. Conscious leaders speak with integrity, lead with authenticity and hold themselves accountable. They listen with the intent to understand and not just to respond, and they do it by being in tune with themselves and the world around them (Cohen, 2018).
In my experience, having open-ended discussions about workplace issues helped me to decide if I had the most knowledge to successfully complete that task. Although, I am a firm believer in being a lifelong learner, I also recognize that some areas are not my expertise. Perhaps, that came from experience or perhaps it comes from my belief that everyone is capable of contributing to the success of an organization. Becoming self-aware is arguably the single most beneficial thing you can do to up your leadership style. This is the act of getting to know yourself not only as a leader, but as a person (Cohen, 2018).
