Students will develop a policy Brief based on a federal anti-poverty, employment, health, immigration or Social Justice policy program of your choice (ex. TANF, Juvenile incarceration, immigration reform, global warming, drug sentencing,W-T-W, Affordable Care Act, etc): indicate a brief history of policy development (include all significant amendments and reauthorizations), intent of the policy (targeted population, rationale, and expected outcome/intent of the policy and programs), identify program cost feasibility vs social benefits (bonus option: use a 2 X 2 matrix to represent), political position,successes, failures/weaknesses (based on intended impact/outcomes), major problem(s) with policy current approach (indication of why current approach does not work or does work; support with reference evidence), and finally provide conclusion and recommendation for revision and or improvements to policy.
