Prejudice and Discrimination

Prejudice and Discrimination

After reading Mooney, Knox, & Schacht, Chapter #9 you have learned about race and ethnic relations. Prejudice is predetermined negative attitudes about an entire category of people. Discrimination is actions that result in different treatment of an entire category of people. Therefore, prejudice is an attitude; while discrimination is an action. Although, often prejudice and discrimination occur together, prejudice does occur without discrimination, and discrimination does occur without prejudice. In the reply box, discuss if you believe there is a decline of racial and ethnic discrimination in the contemporary US. Why or why not? Support your answer with information from chapter #9. Cite the information with the page number and textbook edition you are using, for example (pg.100, ed.10).
