Primary Goals of Program Evaluation

Program evaluation refers to a systematic assessment of outcomes and processes of a given program with an aim of furthering its improvement and development.  In the regard, the primary goals of program evaluation are to provide constructive and timely information for making decisions on particular programs. This means that program evaluators should have the ability to work closely with other program staff to enable them develop an appropriate evaluation plan that meets the program’s particular needs (Vedung, 2008).
